September 25, 2024
Ruthanna Hutton-Okpalaeke leads Urban Triage’s agricultural programs, managing farmland at the Farley Center and organizing workshops on farm business development and specialty crops. Her role includes empowering families to start home gardens and promoting sustainable farming practices within Madison's Black community. Drawing from her experience in cooperative farming during her Peace Corps service in Cameroon, Ruthanna’s mission is to reconnect people with the land and support Black farmers by providing hands-on opportunities for community members to learn how to grow their own food.
